No. COTU operates independently of Randolph–Macon College and its athletic department. We coordinate with the program but operate as a separate LLC.
Are contributions tax-deductible?+
Contributions to COTU NIL are not tax-deductible as charitable donations. They fund legitimate NIL marketing activities and community appearances.
How is COTU different from the Yellow Jacket Club?+
The Yellow Jacket Club broadly supports Randolph–Macon athletics. COTU is specifically focused on facilitating compliant NIL activities — appearances, promotions, and community engagements — for men's basketball student-athletes.
Is this allowed under NCAA Division III rules?+
Yes. All COTU activities are structured to comply with applicable NCAA Division III guidelines and institutional policies. Compensation is for legitimate NIL services only — never for athletic performance, enrollment, or recruiting.
What does Brand Ambassador Mentoring include?+
We pair upper-class men's basketball student-athletes with alumni and community mentors who help them develop leadership, professional presence, and an authentic public voice as they represent partner brands.
What do student-athletes learn in Financial Literacy Education?+
Budgeting, contracts, taxes, and basic entrepreneurship — the real-world money skills that help athletes keep and grow what they earn through NIL.
How does Career Prep & Alumni Networking work?+
We connect athletes with alumni and professional networks to build resumes, sharpen interview skills, and explore career paths beyond graduation.
What kind of Community Engagement opportunities are there?+
Athletes gain public relations and marketing experience through community appearances, charitable events, and local business activations that matter to Yellow Jacket Nation.
How do I get my business involved?+
Visit our Membership & Partnerships page. Tiers run from Bronze ($1,000/yr) to Gold ($5,000/yr), each with structured deliverables including brand-ambassador appearances and brand activations.
Can I sponsor a specific player?+
COTU pools contributions and structures opportunities across the brand-ambassador roster. We don't accept earmarks tied to recruiting, playing time, or athletic performance.
